Gilbert P. Motta III

It is with extreme sadness the family of Gilbert Perry Motta III (known to all as G.P.) announce his untimely passing as a result of a motorcycle accident Friday, Dec. 14th, 2018, in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii.

G.P. was born at home Nov. 7, 1978, in Ahualoa, Hawaii. He was the only boy to seven sisters.

He is survived by his mother, Janis Galarneau of Cottonwood, Arizona; his father, Gilbert P. Motta, Jr. of Walsenberg, Colorado; his three amazing children who loved him dearly, his son, Dayson, and daughter Jayda Motta of Cottonwood, and daughter, Alahna Rose Motta of Greeley, Colorado.

He also leaves his loving fiancé Amara Desseaux of Kailua-Kona; sisters, Christine Motta, Shelly Wamar (Anthony), Julie Smith (Heath), Shayne Gallauher, Shawna Helgeson (Shawn), Raylia Carrillo (Eddie) and Jaysi Motta, his grandmother, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many life-long friends, who he cherished deeply.

Although G.P. had just turned 40 five weeks prior to the accident, he lived life to the fullest. He was so excited about his upcoming wedding Feb. 14th and couldn’t wait for his family and friends to be there with him to celebrate his next big adventure.

He loved all things adrenaline-related, from bull-riding to wakeboarding, snowboarding, free diving to spear fishing, surfing, Hawaiian Boa (boar in English) hunting, motorcycle riding, and hiking to find places no one ever goes.

The list of his adventures goes on and on. G.P. lived in many places, but his dream was always to return to Hawaii to build a life and a business there and he did. He was so happy these last few years living his dream and being with the woman he loved.

He will be greatly missed by everyone who loved and knew him.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a date to be determined.

Aloha, G.P., rest in paradise.
