JEROME -- A 63-year-old Cottonwood man lost control of his motorcycle and hit a guardrail along 89A between Clarkdale and Jerome Friday afternoon, according to officials.

The man suffered significant trauma, according to Jerome Police Chief Allen Muma. He was transported via Guardian Air for treatment of his injuries.

According to Jerome Police, the man was not wearing a helmet. Drug and alcohol impairment is suspected.

Verde Valley Fire, Verde Valley Ambulance, Clarkdale Police Department and Arizona Department of Public Safety also responded to the accident.
