The COVID-19 pandemic cannot stop us from learning.

Join OLLI Sedona-Verde Valley Online for “A Virtual River Trip Through the Grand Canyon,” a slide illustrated adventure, as we journey down the Colorado River for 280 miles through the Grand Canyon.

The emphasis will be on the many geologic features seen on what is normally a 7- to 16-day trip. Class members will explore a few of the archaeological sites along the river.

Register now for this fund raising event, which is open to all, at a cost of only $15 (additional gifts are welcome) which will be on Thursday, Sept. 3, 11 a.m., via Zoom.

Wayne Ranney is an award-winning author, river and trail guide, geologist and educator who inspires residents and visitors of the Colorado Plateau with his words and descriptions.

He is a former back country ranger at Grand Canyon National Park and attained his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in geology from Northern Arizona University.

He is the co-author of “Ancient Landscapes of the Colorado Plateau,” which takes readers on a virtual time machine tour across the stupendous Plateau landscape.

He lives in Flagstaff with his wife Helen and is also the author of “Carving Grand Canyon,” “Sedona Through Time,” and “Defining the Colorado Plateau: A Geologic Perspective.”

Note that this virtual visit to the bottom of the Grand Canyon is being presented in part as a fundraiser for OLLI Sedona-Verde Valley.
