Town of Camp Verde opens registration for Fort Verde Days Parade
CAMP VERDE — The Camp Verde Parks & Recreation Department has opened registration for the 65th annual Fort Verde Days Parade on Saturday, Oct. 9, according to a news release Wednesday.
The parade will feature long time community members Dick and Brenda Hauser as the Grand Marshals for the parade and the parade theme this year will be “Desert Life,” a celebration of living here in the Verde Valley.
“Parade float ideas might include the plants and animals of the Verde Valley, as well as examples of how you or your ancestors lived here in the valley,” Town of Camp Verde Parks and Recreation Manager Michael Marshall said in a statement. “Highlighting the unique aspects of life in the high desert with a river oasis through it is another possibility. These examples may be historical, current or even a future prediction of this life.”
Categories for the parade award entries include Individual, Community Group and Business as well as People’s Choice.
The parade kicks off at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 9, from behind the Basha’s supermarket on Finnie Flat Road and continues up the hill onto Main Street passing through the center of town and then out onto General Crook Trail to finish.
“At just over 1-mile and a small incline up to Main Street, the parade is not too stressful for most,” Marshall said.
Parade entry applications including more float judging criteria are available at visitcampverde.com or at the parks and recreation office at 395 S. Main St.
There is a $10 entry fee for parade entrants.
Volunteers are needed to help organize the parade participants on Saturday morning so if interested, please email email@example.com. For more information, call 928-554-0820, option 3, or online at visitcampverde.com/events.
