New figures reported Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2021, by the Bureau of Labor Statistics show that prices as measure by the Consumer Price Index for urban consumers, have risen 5.3% between August 2020 and last month. What makes that important is that laws approved by voters in 2006 and again in 2016 require annual inflation adjustments based on the August figures. (Independent stock photo)
