Letter to the Community:

I want to give you a quick update on some of the challenges we are experiencing in keeping our schools open. As I am sure you are aware, our community and nation have seen an increase in spread of the Omicron Variant of COVID-19. This is impacting our District’s ability on a daily basis to staff our classrooms, buses and cafeterias. Your school administration and staff have done an outstanding job in keeping our schools open for learning.

However, I expect our staffing challenges will continue and grow in the next few weeks. Let me assure you, if needed, any classroom closures or department issues will be isolated on a case-by-case basis and will be guided by the Yavapai County Health Department and our ability to staff classrooms in order to provide minimal disruption to student learning.

Please check our daily Facebook page and watch for emails, texts, or phone calls from the district via our SchoolMessenger system.

I am very grateful for the service of our parents who have stepped in thus far to assist in our classrooms by filling in when we need substitutes including Stacy Larson, Ashlee Graham, Erin Whitesitt, and Ashley Cook.

Once again I also call upon people of good will to be a substitute teacher, paraprofessional, or bus driver to help our community keep schools open. If you would like to help be part of the solution, please contact Becky Wilson, HR Manager at (928) 634-2288 Ext. 1117 or email bwilson@cocsd.k12.az.us .

Also, please remember, help us avoid unnecessary quarantines in our community by doing the right thing and keeping students home if someone in the home is ill or awaiting testing. By working together, we can keep all of our students, families, and staff safe and in school.

Thank you very much for your help. Just a reminder there is no school on Monday, January 17, 2022, in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. I hope everyone enjoys their weekend.
