A ‘novel’ idea for the Village Library

Sedona Public Library in the Village just got even bigger.

We’ve added the large meeting room to the array of spaces we offer. With more space, more programs, and more services, we need even more support! And fundraising just got more fun!

On Saturday, Oct. 1, the Village Library will celebrate the expanded branch library with the inaugural Novel Night fundraiser. Supporters across the Village of Oak Creek will host book-themed dinners providing food, drinks, entertainment, and décor all in line with the book they’ve chosen. Imagine dressing up as a favorite character and then playing backyard bowling with the Dude from The Big Lebowski. Or dressing up as the Mad Hatter to eat tarts with the Queen of Hearts from Alice in Wonderland. The possibilities are endless, and we need your help!

Please consider hosting a dinner for this fun-filled evening. Our goal is at least 10 dinners, and we have five hosts committed. We need five more! You can host with another household, and you can host in your own home, a favorite restaurant, or maybe your HOA’s clubhouse! The Library takes care of the guestlist and invitations; all you need to do is choose a well-loved and inspiring book, then throw a fabulous dinner party from 5-7:30 on Oct. 1.

But wait, there’s more! Don’t worry about dessert or after-dinner drinks: we’ve got it covered at the After Party. From 7:30 to 9:30 that night you’ll meet characters from dinners/books across town and participate in a costume contest, silent auction, have desserts, drinks, music & more.

Tickets go on sale July 1 for $100. Guests will choose their top picks for book themes when they buy tickets, and choices will be allotted on a first-come first-served basis. So let us know asap if you want to host a party!

Residents agree that the new expanded Library in the Village is one of the best things to happen in Big Park in a long time. As of May 1, the Library will expand its new space even further. The Sedona Oak Creek School District broadened our renewable lease to include the large meeting room!

Very soon groups like the Sedona Village Partnership, the Big Park Regional Coordinating Council, Rotary Club, and others will be able to hold their meetings in this room, and the Library will soon offer interesting, educational, and entertaining programs, including free movies. We’re improving the room’s technology and furnishings, so stay tuned for availability and room rental details.

In a mere six months, Sedona Public Library in the Village has made the splash we knew it would. On average, we see 100 patrons daily; the small meetings room are regularly in use; families love the children’s area and collection; and with the warmer weather, the outdoor patios are accommodating more readers, and writers. Folks regularly stop in, grab a coffee or tea and head out to one of the patios for the awesome view. Tech Tuesdays and Notary Wednesdays are popular services, and everyone loves the easy access holds pick up and exhibits.

Please help support YOUR community Library by hosting a Novel Night dinner. Contact Anne Marie Mackler, amackler@sedonalibrary.org for more information! See you soon!
