Big Park Council launches new website
Big Park Council President John Wichert announced the launch of the new Big Park Council website. The website was constructed by Sedona Website Design.
The website can be accessed at BigParkCouncil.org.
The website was launched July 4.
Website Committee chair Pat Robles noted that Mary Pope and Fred Lenz have been trained as editors of the website and especially thanked John Wichert for his leadership and the anonymous donor for the funding that allowed the website to be created. The site is expected to serve as a community hub and authoritative source for information relating to community issues.
Reference materials include Dark-Sky and Emergency Preparedness information as well as links to local and regional resource websites such as government, public service, utilities, news media, schools and non-profit culture and community service organizations.
In addition to Dark-Sky and Emergency Preparedness, each of the BPC committees (Art in the Roundabouts, Community Plan, Membership) has its own page where information on their activities is kept up to date. There is also a brief recap of the history of our area as it relates to the formation of the Big Park Council including FAQs and information and resources to help your group become a Member Organization (member).
While individuals are encouraged to participate as volunteers and are welcome to join committees, attend meetings and join in discussions, there are no individual memberships. Only organizations may become members. This is important to know because only Council members may vote on proposed actions.
Pat emphasized that the quality of the content reflects the help of all who assisted in the process. Committee chairs will continue to provide updates so that the website is always up to date with the latest information. Pat then moved that the ad hoc website development committee be disbanded as its work was complete. Motion passed unanimously.
