Sedona Public Library in the Village: Thank you for helping us improve the community
A HUGE thank you to everyone who supported Sedona Public Library in the Village during our End of Year Campaign! We appreciate the support, and we promise to put your gifts to good use. Your gifts follow an important philanthropic trend, and we’re proud to know that opening a branch library in the Village was a wise thing for us to do, and grateful that you have made a wise decision by investing in that decision.
In total, 53 donors directed $10,343 to the Village Library. That’s 47 Village/Big Park residents, and a few Sedona residents, too! This is more donors than last year, and we’re so glad to have 12 new donors on board, welcome! It’s important to note that this support includes a portion of our matching gift as well as a second small meeting room sponsorship gift. And a special thanks to Rotary Club of Sedona Village for sharing proceeds from last fall’s Golf Extravaganza! I’m always glad to talk with you about the possibilities for supporting your library. Email me at amackler@sedonalibrary.org.
According to The Annual Report on Philanthropy for the Year 2021, by Giving USA, gifts directed to non-profits that are public-society benefiting organizations, like Sedona Public Library, increased an estimated 23.5 percent in 2021. The Village/Big Park community, like many communities, needs its sense of community to expand and improve, and your library is happy to oblige. Because I know it’s important for donors to learn how their dollars make a difference, please read on to learn all about the programs and services that we have made available for you.
Our Village calendar of events, which can be found under the EVENTS tab, on sedonalibrary.org, will keep you up to date on everything that’s happening. For starters, don’t forget to pick up your free AARP tax preparation forms at the Reference Desk at either library. Appointments start in February: Wednesdays at the Village Library and Thursdays and Saturdays at the main branch in West Sedona.
Our Beginner Spanish Class will be in full swing again on Fridays from 2:30 to 4 p.m. It’s a continuation of our Beginner Spanish class that we provided last Fall. For more information on the class, contact Sra. Jami Rangel at jrangel@sedonalibrary.org. (We will take a hiatus on first and third Wednesday movie matinees until tax season concludes in April.)
Our Javelina Room, which is available to rent during library hours by individuals and community groups, will be very busy in February. We have special author talks including “Love is Crazy: Lessons in Love Books” at 11:30 a.m. on Feb. 9; for Valentine’s Day, we have a special treat with an Arizona Humanities Talk, “Chiles and Chocolates from the Southwest” at 1 p.m. Perfect timing! And please join us for “Daring to Dance Again: Pearls of Wisdom for a Soul-Filled Life” on Feb. 16 at noon
Our Identity Theft Protection class will meet on Feb. 23 at 1 p.m. This is an informative session on how to keep personal information safe and to avoid the traps of identity theft. The class is for both newcomers and previous participants. Bring a friend and stay safe.
For families, join us Tuesdays from 11:15 -11:45 a.m. for story time; Kaleidoscope Red Rocks on Friday, Feb. 3, from 11:15 - 11:45 a.m. and the remaining February Fridays will be Music and Movement with Harta at the same time. And join us for the new Lego Club on Saturday, February 25 at 10:30 a.m. Legos will be provided or bring your own.
Our Tuesday technology time with Marcy and Wednesday notary services with Andrea are also regularly available. And, finally, as February is Love Your Library month, watch for all kinds of special treats, themed programs, and more.
