The Sedona Heritage Museum is excited to present an all new program: ‘Our Town Sedona: Only We’re Dead…The Musical!’ This unique theatrical performance will take place for two nights only, Oct. 27 and 28, at 4:45 p.m. in Cook’s Cedar Glade Cemetery.
‘Our Town Sedona’ features actors who take on the personalities of people from Sedona’s past who are buried in our community’s historic cemeteries – Cook’s Cedar Glade Cemetery and Schuerman Red Rock Loop Cemetery. Their spirits will rise from the grave to share their stories of laughter and sadness, love and heartache with the audience. Guests sitting in the Cemetery will meet Sedonans of the past brought back to life by 10 actors, joined by two musicians in the late afternoon twilight. The stories will be intertwined with performances of folk songs and hymns sung by the cast – who may ask the audience to sing along with them once or twice!
“’Our Town Sedona’ has been a show concept waiting to happen,” says Sedona Heritage Museum Vice President Shondra Jepperson. “Now, thanks to the Sedona Heritage Museum, Dev and I are finally bringing our project to life! It will be a real treat for the end of Oct.!"
Says co-creator and head writer Dev Ross, “The concept is simple. Though the physical attributes of Red Rock Country stay relatively the same, it’s the flesh and blood people who change. Each generation that passes in Sedona brings new people, ideas, changes, hopes, and dreams. Each generation eventually moves into being history. ‘Our Town Sedona’ is a show that can change hundreds of times yet never grow old because each new generation continues to add their stories. As long as people live here there will always be stories to tell.”
Local businesses are sponsoring the show, allowing all ticket sale proceeds to go towards the cemetery’s maintenance. Sponsors include: El Portal Sedona Hotel, Sedona Airport, Sedona New Day Spa, Sedona Paint Center, Stephanie Larsen Interior Designs, Sefton Engineering, Snap Fitness, and The Artists Kitchen Shop.
