Get the leashes ready as the City of Sedona prepares for their fourth annual WagFest and Fair on Saturday, Sept. 16.

“It’s been great in the past and we are hoping to have an even more successful year than previous years,” Parks & Recreation Assistant of Special Events Jason Vargo said. “We have seen hundreds of people in attendance, and we hope to exceed that number.”

Vargo said he is thrilled for the event and both human and dog guests can expect to see new activities.

“I’m very excited. We are going to have new experiences at the event that will feature our local four-legged friends more than we have in the past,” Vargo said. “We are going to have a costume contest, dog art exhibits, we are going to have a talent show, and a version of musical chairs for dogs. The last one to sit on command once the music stops, is out.”

For the safety of dogs and those in attendance, all dogs must be kept on a leash and up to date on vaccinations, and all dog handlers must be over the age of 18 and pick up after their dog.

Those interested in being a vendor, exhibitor, donor, sponsor, or presenter must review the Participant Application package and submit an application available of the City’s website to SedonaRec@SedonaAZ.Gov. Vargo says spots are nearly filled, so act quickly.

A free raffle and interactive presentations will be scheduled in the morning.

The free event will run from 9 a.m. to noon at Posse Grounds Park Pavilion at 525 Posse Ground Road. For more information on this free event, visit SedonaAZ.Gov.
