VERDE HERITAGE: August 1875 arrivals from Missouri worked for George Hance
The Sutler Store in 1885 drawn by Frederick E. Murray, agent for the United Verde Copper Company, who traveled and sketched throughout the Verde Valley. The town of Jerome was named for his first cousin, Eugene Murray Jerome. The building faces north and the store is in the west end. Trees provided shade before the long, covered porch was added.
