The Cottonwood Recreation Center and local Zumba instructors teamed up with Zumba Fitness to support the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation on Friday evening for the first ever Party in Pink Zumbathon. For 2 hours, women, men and children sweated with Zumba instructors Eric, Rose, Roxanne, and Yolanda to Latin rhythms in support of breast cancer awareness and fundraising. The event was free for the entire community; however, donations were encouraged with proceeds going to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Verde Valley Medical Center, the Cancer Centers of Northern Arizona Healthcare and Old Town Cottonwood businesses held Main Street Cares on Friday as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Those who attended had the opportunity to view and vote for "Arty Bras." Created by local residents, the Arty Bras are decorative bras that celebrate the beauty of all women. Participants enjoyed refreshments, store specials and live music by the Janice Paul Trio in the courtyard of the Ledbetter Law Firm. Participating local businesses included Arizona Stronghold Vineyards, Cindi Bee, Crema Coffee and Creamery, Foxy Fashions, Ledbetter Law Firm, Nic's Italian Steak & Crab House, Orion Bread Company, Pillsbury Wine Company North, Steve Coury Ford, Tavern Grille, Tico and Verde Valley Oil Traders.
