PHOENIX -- It's only happened once since 1952.But a new survey shows that a rising number of political independents could actually have President Barack Obama, the presumed Democratic nominee, carrying Arizona. The Behavior Research Center ran test match-ups between the incumbent and the three top Republican contenders who want his job.Pollster Earl de Berge found, for example, is that if the race comes down to Obama and former pizza chain magnate Herman Cain, the president would get the votes of 72 percent of Democrats and 15 percent of Republicans if the GOP nominee is Cain. Conversely, Cain would get 67 percent of voters from his own party and 11 percent of Democrats.
