Boom Boom, the 5,000-pound white rhinoceros that made Out of Africa Wildlife Park his home in 2006, after being rescued from a Texas hunting reserve, was euthanized last Thursday after a battle with cancer. He was 41 years old.

CAMP VERDE - In the six brief years he made the Verde Valley home, Boob Boom cut a wide swath. In a physical sense it wasn't much of a challenge considering Boom Boom was a 5,000-pound-plus white rhinoceros. But in a subjective sense, his wide swath spoke volumes about what Boom Boom meant to those who had the pleasure of making his acquaintance.
