AmeriCorps partners with United Blood Services to host blood driveSept. 15In remembrance of the events of 9/11/2001, AmeriCorps is sponsoring the Cottonwood Community Blood Drive with United Blood Services from noon to 4 p.m. at the Cottonwood Recreation Center, 150 S. Sixth St., in the Mingus Mountain Room. Janet Dews, AmeriCorps volunteer serving the NAU Civic Services Institute in the Verde Valley says that Senior Corps, RSVP and Foster Grandparent volunteers will be providing some baked goods. Juice for participants will be provided by Brandi's. United Blood Service will provide bring salty snacks and water to sustain those who donate blood. Dews serves the Verde Valley via the NAU Civic Service Institute and coordinated this "Days of Service" event. To get your appointment to donate, please go to www.bloodhero.com.
