Unfortunately, what emerged from November’s Big Park Regional Coordinating Council meeting has now become a pattern for the last four months: contentious bureaucratic maneuvering and tedious, time-consuming recesses consulting with a parliamentarian all orchestrated by a handful of council members.
There have been no new planning and zoning applications submitted for recommendations and comment since July, but Yavapai County is still progressing through the many the Village has addressed earlier this year.
As we settle into the last quarter of the year both the temperatures and activity seem to have declined, resulting in a somewhat shorter meeting than we have had recently.
In opening this month’s update, I want to thank Pastor Jim Cunningham for his service as Vice President on the Big Park Regional Coordinating Council and truly regret his resignation. His efforts and service on the BPRCC Board will be missed.
Last month I wrote that the County Supervisors hearing for the Hilton Garden Inn rezoning application would be in July. Due to the resignation of one of the Supervisors the meeting for the hearing was postponed until August so that a full panel of five Supervisors would present.
With the opposing votes it seems useful to illuminate the differences of Planning and Zoning panels and the Boards that they advise.
